FIRST TIME AT THE RANGE

Durban Gun shop, Ihawu Firearm Centre offers competency training & a variety of advanced training courses

General Range Safety Rules

  1. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction.

  2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

  3. Always keep your gun unloaded until you are at the firing line and the range is declared "HOT." Firearms must be safe (unloaded - magazines removed and actions opened) when entering or exiting the range & shop.

  4. Cease Firing: Immediately stop shooting when you are instructed to by one of our safety officials.

  5. COLD Range: Shooters must check with others to ensure firearms are unloaded, actions open and firearms laid down on the shooting bench before going downrange. No one is permitted to handle firearms or stand at the firing line while there is a cold range.

  6. HOT Range: Shooters must check with others to ensure there is no one down range; when the range is declared "HOT" shooters are permitted to commence firing. Only shooters are permitted on the firing line. Shooters may move safe guns to and from the firing line only when the range is "HOT."

  7. Respect the Range: Please place your trash into the trash receptacles and your spent brass into the recycling receptacles. 

  8. Respect Yourself: Wear eye and ear protection on entry to the range, If you do not own your own glasses & earmuffs please ensure you use & return the ones provided upon entry to the range situated by the sign-in book.

  9. Food, beverages, and smoking are not allowed on the range. 

  10. All minors must attend while being accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will sign all documents and stay with them at all times.

Closed shoes are to be worn on the range.

You will not be allowed onto the range with any type of open shoes.

Heads up ladies - Wear a high-chested shirt so you don't get burnt by any hot cases ejected from a firearm.

Non-members R60.00 per person

Firearm Range Use

R 150 per firearm used – Service fee

No Competency?

R 300 for an Instructor for one hour 

Ammo Prices

Ammo prices are dependent on weapon availability as well as what ammo is available.
