Instructors Course

The firearm industry is changing, and Ihawu Firearm Centre remains the leader in firearm training and is adapting to ensure that the needs of the industry are met.  This means that Instructors will leave the course with a well-rounded background of

knowledge, practical expertise, and the ability to teach students.

The Course now includes the following unit standards:

123520 –         Supervise Firearm Training (Instructors)

115753 –         Conduct Outcomes-Based Assessment (Assessors)

123516 –         Supervise Shooting Exercises (Range Officer)

116483 –         Apply Moral Decision-making and Problem-solving Strategies (Ethics)

11870   –         Conduct Targeted Training and Development using given Methodologies  (Teaching how to teach and present a course)

PRICE: Including the provision of lunch is R15 660.00 (incl. VAT) and excluding the use of firearms and ammunition. 

CLASS SIZE: 12 learners only.  Bookings are on a first-come-first-served basis. 

VENUE:  Ihawu Firearm Centre 

Each candidate will be required to bring a suitable:

  • Handgun (centre fired)

  • Appropriate mag pouch and holster

  • Shotgun (pump-action or semi-auto)

  • Sling and ammunition belt/holder

  • Semi-auto rifle (centre fired)

  • Bolt action rifle (centre fired)

  • Eye and ear protection

  • Stopwatch and whistle

 

The following is a list of the MINIMUM amount of ammunition required:

  • 9mmP - 250 rounds

  • 223 - 200 rounds

  • 12G - 100 rounds

  • 308 - 40 rounds

Should you require any equipment, firearms, and/or ammunition, please make the necessary arrangements before commencement of the course.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL COURSE – candidates must be experienced firearm users and should have completed all business purpose unit standards as a minimum requirement. If you do not have these qualifications, we do offer this course at an additional cost of R 5 139.00.

Tactical

Tactical & Duty Related Course

Please note that the following unit standards, listed below, need to be completed before you can register for the tactical course (unit standards relevant to the firearms you wish to receive tactical unit standards in)

Business Purpose Unit Standard required:

 (Handgun, Shotgun, Self-Loading Rifle, and Manually Operated Rifle)

  • Legal and 1 Business Purposes Unit Standards – R 2300.00

  • Legal and 2 Business Purposes Unit Standards – R 3300.00

  • Legal and 3 Business Purposes Unit Standards – R 4350.00

  • Legal and 4 Business Purposes Unit Standards – R 5300.00

Option 1 (if you are using a 223 SLR)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL COURSE – candidates must be experienced firearm users and should have completed all business purpose unit standards as a minimum requirement. 

If you do not have these unit standards, you need to organize to complete them before the date. This is NOT an entry-level 

course.

Cpo body guard

 

This course is constituted of the Four Foundational Unit Standards of the Close Protection Syllabus. This Foundational Course is the beginning stages of the Skill Program and alone does not allow one to register as a Close Protection Officer, this requires further Unit Standards, i.e. First Aid Course, Explain the Requirements for becoming a Security Service Provider, which can be undertaken part-time through Ihawu Firearm Centre at an additional cost.

Valid Driver’s Licence (must be a regular driver)

Business Purpose for Handgun Proficiency Certificate (123515)

                                        3 x Certified ID Copies

                                        2 x Certified Copies of Highest Qualification achieved

                                        1 x Copy of Drivers Licence
